Frequently Asked Questions

  • When choosing a homeopath, I highly recommend working with someone that is credentialed. Homeopathy is not regulated, and there are some who hold themselves up as professionals, but who haven’t had the proper training to use these remedies professionally.

I am nationally board-certified in Classical Homeopathy, and a Licensed Homeopathic Practitioner in the State of Arizona. I graduated from the Academy of Homeopathy Education’s full-time practitioner program in 2020. As part of my homeopathy education, I completed over 1,000 hours of education and clinical training, including practicing under supervision. I had to pass a rigorous exam to achieve national certification. (In fact, I scored so highly on the national certification exam that I was part of a super-small group selected to help write test questions for the exam!)

Every year, homeopaths have to complete 15 hours of continuing education to maintain their certification. I typically exceed this amount. My continuing education has focused on strategies for complex cases. I have also done extensive training in a form of homeopathy based in Bayesian Analytics, called Polarity Analysis.

I have done extensive training in Biotherapeutic Drainage, a form of Complex Homeopathy developed in France, and Homotoxicology.

I have been nationally board-certified as a Holistic Health Counselor, with Honors, through Columbia University and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, since 2007. I’ve gone on to specialize in therapeutic diets, becoming certified as a GAPS Practitioner, as well as a Human Intestinal Microbiome in Health and Disease Specialist.

I’ve accumulated a variety of certifications in various related healing modalities, including herbal medicine, flower essence therapy, and gemmotherapy. I also practiced as a Licensed Massage Therapist from 2014-2020.

I hold a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Tufts University, and I have done graduate work at both Tufts University and Goddard College.

  • My way of working is not about treating particular conditions, but rather restoring your system to a state of greater health.

As part of this restoration process, most people do experience a reduction in symptoms, as organ systems improve their functioning and greater states of health are achieved.

As your body works better, you just feel better!

My process is to stimulate a healing response and to work with you to remove anything that can interfere with the restoration process.

Whatever your diagnosis or condition, you have the potential to experience greater levels of health!

If you have questions about your specific condition, though, please feel free to reach out to discuss.

Here is a list of some of the conditions that I have encountered in my work with clients.

  • Great question! Many people have different ideas when they hear the word “homeopathy.” Some people think it means herbal medicine.

Homeopathy is its own, very special system. Rather than forcing a biochemical reaction in the body, as with herbal medicine or supplements, homeopathy stimulates your body’s own healing response mechanisms. This is what allows changes to occur on a global level, with mental, emotional, and physical issues improving or resolving from the same homeopathic remedy.

Some people confuse homeopathy with naturopathy. Although these are actually quite related, there are some differences. Homeopaths don’t necessarily receive specific training in some of the modalities that a naturopath does. And while many naturopaths use homeopathy, naturopaths don’t always achieve the depth of training that a homeopath does.

As someone who has done deep study in the modalities that a naturopath has, including herbalism, bodywork, nutrition, and gemmotherapy, my way of working is in alignment with that of a traditional naturopath.

An excellent resource that I recommend to help you learn more about homeopathy, which can be read for free online, is the book, Homeopathy: Beyond Flat Earth Medicine.

  • Yes! Children and babies respond beautifully to homeopathy and adjunctive modalities. I’ve worked with many children to help them through various physical and emotional issues.

  • Absolutely not! I strongly recommend retaining the services of your primary care practitioner.

Many people come to me because they’re not getting the results they desire from their doctor. But don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. Our work together is meant to be a complement, not a replacement, and I encourage you to communicate with your doctor so they can continue to monitor your condition.

  • Like many others working in the complementary and holistic healthcare fields, my services are not covered by insurance.

  • I do not guarantee results, nor would any ethical practitioner. I stand behind my skills, experience, wisdom, and problem-solving abilities, as well as the many positive experiences of the people I have helped.

See here for some testimonials of client results.

  • Yes! Homeopathy actually lends itself well to a remote practice. The majority of my practice is virtual. I see clients from all across the United States, as well as internationally. I invest in a HIPAA-compliant practice platform that offers telemedicine as well as a secure messaging portal.

  • Remedies can be sensitive, and if you’re also a sensitive person, there are some things I recommend avoiding while under homeopathic care, to make the most of your treatment:

Products using camphorous or minty essential oils, including diffusers, soaps and shower products, toothpaste, hand sanitizers, herbal formulas, etc.

Auromère makes a specially formulated toothpaste for compatibility with homeopathic treatment.

Coffee can generally be okay, but can antidote some remedies in sensitive individuals.

This is something that we will figure out together as your case evolves!

  • I work with humans of all ages and stages of the life cycle.: birth, infancy, childhood development, adolescence, and adulthood.

I’ve worked with women throughout pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and menopause.

I care for a wide spectrum of issues, ranging from simple acutes, recurrent illnesses, pediatric emotional/behavioral issues, and more complex issues like autoimmunity, long-hauler syndrome, and complex, chronic illness. I excel in working with challenging cases, rare conditions, and sensitive people.

  • All of your information is kept secure and confidential. I invest in a HIPAA-compliant platform for secure communication and information storage. This is not something that’s required by homeopaths, but something I’ve elected to do. I also use a secure email platform (ProtonMail).

Very occasionally, I will consult with a more experienced homeopath on a particularly challenging case. In those situations, I remove any identifying information.

I do not use any details about my client’s case for marketing purposes without express consent.

  • This is a great question, and one that generates more questions for me.

A longer piece on this topic will be coming soon, but some initial questions that I want to pose are these:

What kind of information do we really need to best guide treatment? Do we need to know the exact strains of every single microbe in the body in order to get someone feeling better? Are microbes the real problem? Is going on an aggressive course of eradicating them the best course of action for a sensitive, sick person? Why is the person harboring these microbes in the first place? Is there perhaps an underlying causality that needs to be addressed first?

It’s very trendy for practitioners to do comprehensive (and expensive) workups in order to arrive at a “root cause.” Homeopaths have a different understanding of root cause. We see the underlying imbalance that manifests as downstream symptoms — but we address the underlying imbalance. From there, your body can do the rest. Infections can resolve without resorting to overt killing.

In my discussions with functional medicine practitioners, including a well-known, well-trained individual with a Masters degree in Functional Nutrition, I’m also aware of the limitations of functional testing. Sometimes, this can look like supplementing to improve test scores and trying to “hack” your way to health. In my opinion, this kind of mindset is not helpful for healing, which I see as a process of integration, rather than reductionism.

I do a variety of careful, thorough, and comprehensive assessments to help arrive at my own understanding of root cause, but no - I do not do any medical testing at this time.

  • While I respect your practice and honor your wisdom around what works for you, we may not be the best fit to work together if we cannot establish a baseline of trust and professional respect. My decisions are informed by years of education, training, and clinical practice. My methods are time-honored, with many years of efficacy behind them. Trust is key!

  • As a practitioner, I have access to more information on homeopathic remedies than is available online. I also treat your whole pattern, and not just the condition you come in with. A lot of the information found online gives an incomplete picture, and is designed for people who are using homeopathy in a more limited way, to treat simple acute cases. By contrast, I have access to loads of resources on remedies through my education and training, and treat people in a more expansive way.

  • This is a very fascinating aspect of homeopathy.

Homeopathic remedies can be made from a variety of plant, animal, and mineral agents from the natural world. This includes snake venom, poisonous plants like Belladonna, and minerals such as arsenic.

Homeopathic remedies are different from herbal medicine and supplements, in that they are very highly diluted. This means that very little to none of the original substance remains in the remedy.

One of the basic principles of toxicology is, “The dose makes the poison.” Since remedies are so dilute, there is not enough of a substance to cause any toxicity in the system. Rather, the nanoparticles induce a hormetic effect, provoking a healing response in the body.

  • Currently, I only offer virtual sessions. But watch this space for possible openings on potential in-person sessions in the Northampton, Massachusetts area.

  • Sorry, but not if you want the best outcome. Remedies don’t always interact well with each other, and you could end up doing more harm than good. Oftentimes, what seems like an acute could be a flare-up of your chronic state, in which case micromanaging the acute with another remedy could make things go off the rails. I have a lot of ways that I work with acutes that don’t interfere with the big picture of your treatment. Please reach out to me with any acute needs that come up while under my care.

I made this mistake myself when I was a baby homeopath, thinking I knew what I was doing, and interfered with my son’s treatment. His homeopath gave me a dressing down, and rightfully so! Please trust me, my education, and experience as your practitioner, and don’t self-treat your acutes while under chronic care with me.

  • You can expect timely communication and my full investment in the process.

Here’s a bit about what you can expect from homeopathic treatment in general.

  • I am not one to shy away from strong emotions. While homeopathy is not therapy, and I do not provide counseling, I hold a safe space for you to identify and process your feelings. This work is about understanding how you respond to what happens to you, so there is definitely space to explore this in our sessions, if that’s something you’re looking for.

I have extensive experience working with people navigating mental health challenges. During my college years, I worked in a respite home for people struggling with mental health and substance abuse challenges. In my role as a homeopath, I have worked with people struggling with alcoholism, schizophrenia, postpartum depression & anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, addiction, PTSD/CPTSD, and a variety of other issues. Let’s face it — it’s all part of the human experience.

I’m a peacekeeper. I hold a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space. I won’t ever make you feel like your symptoms are all in your head, or chalk them up to anxiety. I have experienced that myself, not only with doctors, but even with other homeopaths! I know how invalidating and frustrating that is.

I have done a lot of work around staying grounded and regulated while holding space for others to process emotions. I look forward to holding space for you and supporting you.

  • Whatever you’re dealing with, chances are good that the strategies and modalities I use can help to shorten the duration and lessen the severity of symptoms.

Also, the body has its own priorities for healing. Everything you’re dealing with is part of your whole picture, which is ultimately what I address in my work with clients. You get all of my skills and tools on all of your issues. So there’s no need to wait until one issue is healed to address your other issues! Bring it all my way, and I’ll help you get moving forward with all of it faster.

  • This is a nuanced issue that requires a layered answer.

The idea of a constitutional remedy doesn’t always play out in practice for everyone. Though I have many clients who do have a clear constitutional, there may be times when the remedy you need in the moment deviates from that, depending on what else is going on.

What I’m always seeking to do is alleviate or eliminate pathology. Sometimes this results in a constitutional remedy; other times not. Many modern homeopaths prefer the term “chronic” remedy to constitutional.

Ultimately, it comes down to each individual person and situation.

  • While I don’t specialize in using homeopathy for cancer, I can work with someone as part of an integrative approach. Homeopathy works well for managing the side effects of treatment, as well as strengthening one’s overall constitution.

  • Absolutely. Many of my client cases are layered and complex. This is my bread and butter! Please reach out if you have questions about your particular situation.
